Old Reigatian V Old Colfeians Match Report

Saturday 12th saw ORs play their final pre season fixture and took on the London 2 South East runners up the last time we finished a season. OCs provided the strong opposition required for the preparations for our league campaign.

Early exchanges shown the larger OC pack will provide a hard test for our scrum but we soaked up some pressure before the Coyle brothers combined with Max drawing in their Winger and passing on to Finn with about 60 meters out Finn showed great pace to finish off the try and give us an early 5-0 lead.

OCs came back with two tries before half time one through their strong pack used to drive the hosts over the line. George Perry slotted a Penalty to make it 8-12 going in at half time.

OR’s discipline was not helping matters with us starting the second half with 13 men with Oli Brooks and Paul Marshall in the bin. We also found ourselves on the wrong end of a very high penalty count which is certainly a big work on before we start the league games.

Sam Foreman took a knock which ruled him out for the rest of the afternoon and we shall see how he is before next week.

The second half ORs ran the ball more and we showed more width to our game Unfortunately OCs got in a couple more lineouts close to the try line and again used their well organised pack to score two more driving maul tries.
The longer the game went on the more we grew in confidence of moving the ball and some great open play lead to an Oli Brooks try close to the end of the game. Disappointing to record our first loss but many positives to take to the Exiles game next week.

Final score Old Reigatian 13 – 22 Old Colfeians
